“We Recorded ‘Amaaso’ From The Basement Of My Apartment In USA And I Didn’t Like It!” Pallaso Recounts Hard Times.

After recording Amaaso with Goodlyfe in his basement in the U.S., Pallaso wasn’t excited.

But the song would become a smash hit, prompting him to return to Kampala after 10 years of living and working in the U.S., his brother Weasel, who alongside Mowzey Radio, formed Goodlyfe, told media on Wednesday, May 24.

Weasel and Radio had traveled to Los Angeles, California, having been nominated in the 2013 BET Music Awards for Best International Act Africa.

Pallaso and Weasel were both once in the U.S. doing menial jobs, but the latter returned earlier.

Fortunately for him, their brother Jose Chameleone was mentoring Radio and Weasel ended up teaming up with him to form Goodlyfe.

“I went to America with Pallaso for Kyeyo. I failed and returned to Kampala shortly, but Uncle Pallaso stayed there,” Weasel said during a press conference held ahead of his concert dubbed Love Fest Concert, which will be held on June 9 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

“For me, I returned and became a star while working with Radio. I went back and we made a great song… We recorded it from his basement.”

While in the U.S., Pallaso, real name Pius Mayanja sired two kids with Nicole Hayman.

Hyaman jetted into Kampala on Wednesday, April 19 with their kids, Dinari Mayanja (son) and Maisha Mayanja (daughter).

In 2004, the Team Good Music founder left for the United States of America where he hoped to start a better life.

10 years later, in 2014, he returned to Kampala to concentrate on his music career.

In the year of his return, he recorded two hits — Mundongo and Get Down Low — with Sheebah Karungi, and he is now a mainstay in the industry.

Meanwhile, Weasel said bought 20 tickets for women.
