Rtd. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye

Police intercepted the former Forum for Democratic of Change (FDC) President immediately after he left his home with a megaphone mobilizing people in a campaign he termed as “Reawakening citizens in the face of skyrocketing commodity prices.”

This is the second time Besigye is attempting to protest against the highly escalating commodity prices in the country as he is recalled last week to have been blocked by Police and put under house arrest.

The ‘increasing prices of commodities’ in Uganda continues to be a massive topic of discussion around the country.

Local economists say it’s a global crisis, attributed to the persisted Russia Vs Ukraine war that keeps on affecting the supply-chain of oil and gas around the world.

Government of Uganda has on various occasions proved not able to intervene in any way to the lethal prices of goods.
