Speaker Oulanyah’s State Funeral at Kololo today

By Website Writer; The State Funeral for the fallen Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Jacob L’okori Oulanyah is set for today, Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The body of the late Speaker arrived at Kololo grounds at 9AM amidst a spectacle of dance and dress codes befitting the send-off of the man who had been at the helm of the institution.

Acholi Bwola dancers welcomed the hearse containing the body of the late Speaker, that was being moved by the Uganda Police Force and A-Plus Funeral Services Pallbearers.

The main celebrant of the event is the Church of Uganda’s Archbishop, The Most Rev. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu.

Yesterday, Parliament led by the newly elected Speaker Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among eulogized the late Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jacob L’Okori Oulanyah, describing him as a dedicated Speaker who served his country with a lot of devotion.

According to legislators, the late Speaker did not only restore public confidence in the Ugandan Parliament but was also a key figure in the restoration of peace in the neighboring country of South Sudan.

Some legislators spent the night at Parliament with the family of the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah.

Early on Wednesday morning, preparations were intense to transport the body from Parliament to Kololo for the State funeral.

The family of the deceased headed back at home to freshen up after the night at the vigil at Parliament.

Legislators retuned to Parliament to pick up their accreditation cards before they headed to Kololo.

The President of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is expected to attend.

On Thursday April 7, 2022 the body will lie at Lalogi for final respects by members of the public before burial on Friday, April 8, 2022.
