NRM To Celebrate 36 Years In Power On January 26th

National Resistance Movement, NRM, has informed their supporters that they will be celebrating 26th of January to mark 36 years in power.

However, they will hold these celebrations under strict Covid-19 SOPs, the minister of state for Economic Monitoring, Peter Ogwang revealed.

He said they expect only 547 people to attend the main ceremony at Kololo ceremonial grounds.

The theme of the celebrations is; “Celebrating the 36th NRM victory day, a call to duty for all compatriots to continue towards Uganda’s Social Economic Transformation Journey.” The party has arranged thanks giving prayers on January 21, 22 and 23 for Muslims, Adventists and other Christians respectively.

Those who are not part of the 547 invited guests can join in for the prayers. They may broadcast these prayer live to allow everyone participate from their places of residence.

Last year, the celebrations were minimal too due to Covid. Much as this year the situation is calming down, it is still too early to let people go to Kololo as they wish.

Meanwhile, Ogwang urged guests to arrive at the venue by 9am before the guest of honour, President Museveni arrives lest they will be turned away.

This means the celebrations will end earlier than usual too because they don’t want to keep huge crowds for long.
