The rumors made news headlines earlier this week from most of the print media platforms with a title “NUP Top Bosses in Bitter Split”.
However, the MP Nyendo – Mukungwe has come out and trashed the allegations, branded the published stories against NUP to be forged.
In his social media post, Hon. Mpuuga says they are probably a figment of somebody’s wild imagination and it is misplaced, it is meant to foment disagreements in the rank and file of NUP.
He also says that NUP is a party for the public domain not a personal estate and its meetings sit as necessitated to discuss general issues affecting the society.

Read Hon. Mathias Mpuuga’s statement in full:

Journalists came to office to speak to me about a propagandist article published by New Vision under a headline; “NUP Top Bosses in Bitter Split.” This is probably a figment of somebody’s wild imagination. I belong to the top organs of the party, and, meetings sit as and when it is necessary. I have not heard a policy or decision disagreement to the level I have seen in some form of a shabbily cooked story to wit in The New Vision. It is misplaced, it is meant to foment disagreements in the rank and file of NUP.
A political party is an organization in the public domain; not somebody’s estate. If there are any fundamental departures on positions or approaches, they’re openly discussed, and such can’t constitute a fissure in the party. Sections of the media are part of the state apparatus they want to see NUP disintegrate. I want to disappoint them that it is not about to happen.
When we meet, we deliberate on issues within & without the party – in the country, in Parliament etc.
We are not a bunch of fools that whenever an issue comes, we chorus about it; we deliberate. The intention of the retreat we had with the NUP MPs was to review our 6 months in Parliament.
We agreed to improve, re-orient our young & new MPs to best represent their people and afflictions of the society. We discussed the major challenges in the country; Human Rights violations, the continued arrests of our members and the duty we have as the leading Opposition party and how best we can work with other parties to ensure that the final push of the dictatorship is a concerted effort. #AccountabilityAndService
