President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has on Tuesday August 3, 2021 met with the Kabaka of Buganda His Royal Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II and other officials from Mengo government, at Nakaseero State House Lodge.
His Royal Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, the Kabaka of Buganda has earlier today paid a courtesy visit to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa at Nakaseero State House Lodge after a long period of no physical meeting between the two.
The duo discussed development matters between Buganda Kingdom (Mengo government) and the Central Government.
The Kabaka and President exchanged pleasantries to have taken long without meeting before they could go on to hold a closed door meeting.
According to information from an insider, Mailo land matters, the return of Buganda Kingdom properties commonly known as “Ebyaffe” and federal dominated the debate.
The duo’s meeting comes at a time when the country is heated with proposal debates by government to make reforms in the laws governing land in Uganda with emphasis on abolishing mailo land that is common in Buganda.
It should be recalled that recently, President Museveni blamed the increasing land dispute cases in Uganda on Buganda Kingdom Mailo land tenure system and has since engaged leaders in land reform talks.
Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II was accompanied by the Katikiro of Buganda Owek Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, and Prince Charles Wasajja.
