Robinah Nabbanja commits her first salary to Church house debt

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has donated her first salary of 50 million shillings towards the clearance of a 60 billion shillings debt owed by the Church of Uganda.

The loan, much of it owed to Equity Bank, was used for the construction of Church House which sits along Kampala road.

The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev Dr Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu on June 6, 2021 launched the “Love Gift” campaign in which he called on one million willing Ugandans to contribute 60,000 shillings each in order to raise 60 billion and clear the debt.

Today Sunday, Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja contributed 50 million shillings, which Kaziimba said was her (Nabbanja) first salary as Prime Minister.

Kaziimba announced Nabbanja’s contribution during the second Sunday service at Archbishop’s palace at Namirembe, Kampala.

“I want to appreciate those who have continued with the Love Gift programme. We have been blessed so much by our Prime Minister who visited us in the first service, and fulfilled her pledge of 50 million shillings. She said this has been her first salary which means first fruits,” said Kaziimba.

The archbishop said it was very telling for Nabbanja who is a Roman Catholic to contribute 50 million shillings to support the Anglican church.

He called on other politicians to make a contribution, and support God’s work.
