“I AM NOT SPONSORING KADAGA’S CAMPAIGNS”- SUDHIR RUPARELIA DISTANCES HIMSELF

Kampala City businessman Sudhir Ruparelia has distanced himself from any engagement and the monetization of Kamuli District woman MP Rebecca Kadaga’s Speakership race.

Kadaga is struggling with stiff competition from her Deputy Jacob Oulanyah, FDC’s Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, DP’s Richard Ssebamala and independent candidate Juliet Kinyamatama for the position.

Reports have been around social media indicating that Kadaga is being sponsored by Sudhir Ruparelia. However, the businessman has denied any connection with the race.

Kakgenyi Lukka, a close business associate with the Ugandan entrepreneur said the Tycoon has no interest in the race and only wishes to continue doing his business in real estate, banking, insurance, tourism among others.

“The rumors circulating on social media that Dr Sudhir Ruparelia is bankrolling Rt Hon (Rebecca)Kadaga’s campaigns to retain her Speakership job are not true. This smear campaign is orchestrated by a camp of some opponents in the Speaker and Deputy Speaker’s race,” he said.

A source in Sudhir’s office told said that the businessman will not be part of such races since as a businessman, he serves all populations.

The race is indeed high profile and every big name in the country cannot fail to be included. Businessmen are a pawn in this game of politics,” the source said.

The NRM Central Executive Committee is expected to sit this Saturday to decide how to move forward with the race. Election of the speaker is expected on Monday May 24th.
