Russia’s Viladmir Putin scolds Museveni’s invitation for swearing in ceremony

Russian head of state, Vladimir Putin has said he will not be attending the swearing-in ceremony of President Yoweri Museveni on Wednesday. Putin says instead, he will send a presidential delegate to represent him at the function.

 

The Russian representative will be among the heads of state and delegates from different countries who will be jetting in tomorrow ahead of the Wednesday function. In a statement today, the Presidential Press Secretary, Linda Nabusayi, noted that among those arriving tomorrow include presidents of Somalia, Guinea, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Ghana, South Sudan, and the Vice President of Nigeria.

Others are; Republic of South Africa Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Minister of Combatants of Mozambique, Prime Minister of Gabon, African Union Commission Chairperson, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic. Others are the East African Community Secretary-General, Executive Secretary of the International Conference on Great Lakes Region, and the executive secretary of the Inter-Government Authority on Development.

It is not yet clear whether any of the contestants in the recently concluded Jan 14 elections will attend the swearing-in of Museveni.
